πŸ₯΅πŸš«β˜€οΈ In May 2004, this man - Frank Byrne - gave me my first professional job. I was only 22 and leas than 1 year out of college. Three weeks into the job, I had to lead my very first board meeting and got chewed up, spit out, humiliated, and embarrassed. Back out on the speaking trail this morning - this time with the team with the Lea County Probation Office! We dove into “Implementing & Managing Change”. I appreciated the engagement, discussion, energy and laughter with this group. Two years ago, we broke ground on the Industrial Training Center. This past Thursday, we invited our partners, supporters, and friends to the Grand Opening and naming of the building after Dr. Steve McCleery. THANK YOU to all who support us at @nmjc_ 17 years old ➑️ 43 years old

What I wouldn’t give to sit that kid down and tell him a few things:

Invest in meaningful relationships - they’ll matter more than you realize down the road. All the things that you want to (and will) achiev I think one of the hardest things, at least for me, is to allow someone to have a bad opinion of me. I want to defend myself. I want to explain why they’re wrong. I want to convince them that I’m a good person and I am worth liking.
